Nanowrimo

So after thinking about it for a few years, I'm finally doing Nanowrimo (writing a 50,000 word novel during the month of November). I'm two days in and sticking with the slow and steady plan (1,667 words a day will get me to 50,000 by the end of the month). For the first two days, I've gone over on my words (about 1,800+ a day), so I'm feeling pretty good. I'm at 3,764 right now.

For the past two days, I've been getting up around 6ish to write in the morning before I need to get ready. I hate to get out of bed that early, but I'm afraid if I left it until the end of the day, I'd never get it done. So far, I've been getting about 900 words written from 6-7 in the morning and then picking up the rest over lunch or in the evening.

I'm enjoying the challenge, and I'm really thankful that John and my parents encouraged me to do it--otherwise I probably would've spent another year just thinking about trying it...maybe...someday...

Awesome Challenge!

What's it going to be about?

That's so great. I've always wanted to do the challenge but have never been brave enough to tackle it. I'm rooting you on from here in Lawrence.

I so want to read your book! What's it about?

Thanks guys!

It's rough title is Junior Paranormal Society. Think Babysitters Club except with ghost hunters. I'm liking how many options it gives me (ghosts = anything can happen)

Thanks for rooting for me, Kate! There's still time to sign up--it'd be great to have someone to write with (even if it is long distance)...seeing your comment made me think of the sleepover at your house with the haunted basement (and books flying off the shelves?)...maybe I'll have to add that in ;)

I'm actually not sure it will be readable, Christina...at least not without some serious work. It's a struggle but they say not to erase or make any edits or else you will never get to 50k (I'm getting better about it, but I feel like I should start a list of everything that NEEDS to be fixed...or else maybe they'll all be so glaringly obvious that they'll be easy to fix). It's going to end up being a 50k word free-write, rough, rough draft.

The best of both worlds--babysitters and ghosts. Brings back scary memories...Well let me be one of the first to read it after the edits! You are awesome!
